AirFit F20 channels airflow non-invasively to a patient from a positive airway pressure (PAP) device such as a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) or bi-level device; full face mask is recommended for people who have allergies, breathe through mouth or get stuffy nose at night.
In order to keep good hygiene, it is recommended to replace your mask components as per manufacturer details. Replace the mask cushion every month, frame system every 3 months and headgear for every 6 months.
CPAP and bilevel devices are intended to be used with special masks (or connectors) which have vent holes to allow continuous flow of air out of the mask. When the device is turned on and functioning properly, new air from the device flushes the exhaled air out through the mask vent holes.
A full-face mask may allow for comfortable and effective therapy if you frequently struggle to breathe through your nose. It is ideal for people with allergies, who breathe through mouth or get stuffy nose at night.
Oxygen concentrator and CPAP machine serves different functions. An oxygen concentrator is used for respiratory conditions that cause low oxygen levels in the blood. While CPAP machine is used to keep the airway open during sleep and prevent the breathing interruptions that occur as a result of sleep apnea.
Always follow cleaning instructions provided in the manual. Some cleaning products may damage the mask, its parts and their function, or leave harmful residual vapours that could be inhaled if not rinsed thoroughly. Soak the headgear in warm water with a mild liquid detergent, hand wash the headgear with a soft bristle brush. Then, thoroughly rinse the headgear under running water and eave the headgear to air dry out of direct sunlight.
CPAP devices do not used for supplemental of oxygen, nor they absorb nitrogen and produce oxygen-enriched air the way an oxygen concentrator does. Instead, CPAP machine draws-in air from the room and then filters and pressurizes it based on the prescribed pressure setting as per the user requirements.
